The Democratic Party of Washington County
appreciates everybody who made yesterday’s voting in the Spring Primary
possible despite set backs. A very special thank you to the Poll Workers who
helped yesterday with great risk to their health and safety. They did not have
the hospital-grade PPE that some of the Poll Inspectors did even though they
came into much closer contact with voters and other Poll Workers.
Thank you to the voters that stood in lines that spanned several city blocks in
some places just to make sure their voices were heard. To vote in person was a
huge risk for many,
Thank you to all the people that stood up to help their friends and neighbors by providing rides to the polls, handing out snacks to weary voters, acting as witnesses for absentee ballots, and feeding the exhausted Poll Workers in Milwaukee. Milwaukee was supposed to have 180 polling locations, but because of the pandemic, it was whittled down to just 5.
Thank you to all of our volunteers that made phone calls to remind people to request an absentee ballot and return it in the weeks ahead of the election.
Thank you to our candidates who must now wait
longer for the results they were hoping to have last night. We wish you
the best of luck and hope you win. Our fingers are crossed!
Despite all the challenges we faced, we made it through the day, because we are
#allinthistogether and #WashCoDemsCare.
