UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE OFFICE

The following events will take place at the Washington County Democratic Party Office at 132 North Main Street in West Bend.

“Legislative Update” with Representative Mandela Barnes                                    on Thursday, May 28th, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM

Join us for a legislative update with Representative Mandela Barnes (D-Milwaukee). Representative Barnes will give us an update on current issues in the Wisconsin State Legislature, including the issues surrounding the current budget proposals. He will also take questions from the crowd.

Come join us on the 28th and bring a friend. This event is free and open to the public. For questions, please contact Tanya Lohr at 414-467-8469.

“Flashcards for Casa Guadalupe” on Tuesday, June 9th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM

Come join us on June 9th to finish up the Spanish/English flashcards for Casa Guadalupe. These flashcards are for ELL (English Language Learners) to use over the summer so they can be caught up on their English skills when they return to school in fall.

NO background in the Spanish language required!

The list is already made for us. So, we just need to transfer them onto the individual cards.

June Membership Meeting on Wednesday, June 17th, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM

Please join us as we plan our summer actions and activities.

If you have questions or would like to add an item to the agenda, please contact Tanya Lohr at 414-467-8469 or telohr@charter.net .

MAY COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

This month we will be collecting prizes for the “Summer Reading Program” at the West Bend Community Library. (We did this project two years ago and were asked for help again this year.)

The prizes for the children’s “Summer Reading Program” will be for their treasure chest which is filled with prizes for reaching weekly goals. These prizes are typically a dollar or less. The librarian suggested pencils, key chains, individual play doughs, glow sticks and individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars and fruit snacks. The gifts are typically fun and inexpensive.

The library also has a “Summer Reading Program” for adults, and it is headed by our own Sara Davister. Sara has asked that we consider donating gifts for this reading program as well. Her suggestions include bottles of wine, chocolate, lotions, fun notepads and other fun gifts.

We will be collecting gift items at the Wash Dem Office. Please stop by and drop off your donation.
