Wed, September 20th – Monthly Membership Meeting: 7:00 – 8:30 PM

(You don’t have to be a member of the Wash. Co. Dems to attend! All welcome!)

Emily Greene from the Youth and Family Project will be joining us to tell us more about the services this organization offers members of our community. A lot of these important programs are unknown to our community, and yet help support it on a daily basis. This is a great organization to learn more about.

Wednesday is also a great opportunity to bring in a donations for the Youth and Family Project. We are currently collecting items for their newly renovated family reconnection center, which allows for supervised family visitations in a homelike atmosphere. Items they could use include:

* child-safe cleaning supplies
* paper goods (napkins, plates, paper towels, plastic ware)
* pots/pans
* cookie sheets
* measuring cups
* aprons
* dish soap
* other kitchen needs
(These items can be gently used – well, except the napkins, plates, paper towels, and plastic ware…)

We will also plan for our October events including the Spaghetti Dinner. The more voices at the table, the better our decisions will be! Join us on Wednesday!

Income Inequality in Wisconsin is at Highest Level Since the Great Depression

Wisconsin Public Radio recently did an important piece on income inequality in Wisconsin. In the report, it was shared that:
“The richest 1 percent in Wisconsin made — on average — 19 times as much as everyone else in 2014, according to Laura Dresser, associate director for COWS. Most people in Wisconsin made less than $50,000 a year on average while the top 1 percent brought in around $933,000 each year.”

Wed, September 20th – Monthly Membership Meeting: 7:00 – 8:30 PM

Please join us as we plot and plan our next events! Remember – the Candlelight Vigil grew from a discussion at our August meeting and three days later, bam – we had an extremely successful, lead story on the local news, event. From these meetings comes action, and from you comes the ideas that start this action. See you on September 20th!
